Bridal Gown Heaven

How do you know when it’s the right dress?

I recently had the honor of being invited to help shop for a bridal gown. WOW! Have things changed since I got married. The selections and styles are like the stars in the sky.

We have this gorgeous Bridal shop nearby, the perfect place to find the perfect dress. I had the time of my life photographing the gorgeous gowns she tried on. I only wish the lighting had been better.

These ruffles took my breath away.

I loved the gathered side on this one.

The beading on this bodice was TDF.

This one was one of my favorites. Look closely at the bottom of the dress.

Train love

This dress had a beaded flower pattern that was incredibly elegant.

Does anyone know where I can find curly ostrich feathers like these in white? I have a project in mind.

The aftermath . . . I couldn’t believe how they just piled on the gowns as they were discarded to the side. It reminded me of the I Want Candy scene in Marie Antoinette.

Now a guessing game . . . Can anyone tell me who wore this famous gown in what popular movie?

Happily Ever After . . .

Once upon a time there was a Mirror . . .

It reminded one of calm days skating on beautiful frozen lakes. The mirror belonged to a girl who dreamed often of skating on its smooth surface, and she reveled in the play of light over its crystal handles.

One day after owning the mirror for many years, the girl who had now become a woman, felt it was time to pass the mirror on to someone else. What she did not realize was that her young girl’s heart would miss that mirror and its magic to inspire.

For two years she searched to find another like it, but every time she met with failure. She had given up the search when one night, while cruising the Etsian Way, she found one (similar in style)!

She emailed the owner of the magical mirror, and to her delight the lovely Judith was not only the owner, but a kindred spirit. In their conversation they struck an exchange of the heart. You see, Judith had a love affair with the color pink, and the girl-turned-woman had a pink mirror of rare loveliness that spoke to Judith’s love. The mirrors were exchanged in the mail . . . and they both lived happily ever after.

Of course you know the girl in the story, but a little more about the wonderful, Judith. Judith is the owner of Onlinechic an Etsy Boutique and also the proprietress for the lovely Somewhere in Time Online shoppe. She has some incredible treasures. Take a peek below.

Paths of Beauty

My eyes have been wandering the paths of beauty . . .

A new home for a sweet nest.

This photo holds a wonderful story. I'll be back soon to tell it.

Dream Class

We had twelve students and it was AWESOME!!

Ulla and I arrived at the Castle at 9:00 AM. We quickly set up for our class and waited for our students to arrive. It was a blast from the moment it started! The women in our class were incredibly nice and excited to be there to learn from us. They created beautiful shoes with imaginative flair. I really enjoyed the bold color combinations and embellishments they used on their shoes. I was pretty nervous at first, but I settled into a rhythm and everyone encouraged me along.

Ulla circulated among the tables while I taught my portion of the class. She gently guided and encouraged our fellow artists. Ulla is one of the best teachers I have ever had the privilege to teach with or learn from. Her imagination and creativity flow over you and they open your mind to possibilities you didn’t know existed.

Creative chaos

After lunch Ulla taught her gorgeous regency style shoe. We all loved the ease of the pattern she had created.

I made this little round toed lovely. It reminds me of a shoe Jane Austin might have worn to a wedding.

The best parts of the workshop. . .

Laughter . . .

The process of creating . . .

Learning about new resources for supplies . . .

A big Thank You to all of the artists who attended yesterday’s workshop.

I want to give a special thank you to Diana (your stories and shared inspirations from your days of making shoes), Martha (your generosity with paper flowers and those gorgeous out of this world ribbons), Patricia (your sensitive heart, advice, and encouragement), Amy (my callous-fingered sister, you made me laugh), and Cynthia (I’m going to be buying a boatload of those quickie glue pens)!!

I couldn’t have asked for a better first teaching experience. It went like a dream.

Ulla, I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for believing I could do this. You’re the BEST!!

And thank you to Karima for letting us host this class in your beautiful and magical shoppe.

When I got home, my hubby had this salad waiting for me.

After the salad, I put my feet up and fell asleep.
